Boards
The basic message boards area serves as a means of communication
among the parents, faculty, and school staff. On a technical
note, the message boards serve as a login “gateway”
to the parent portal of the web site.
The message boards also allow parents to communicate
among one another in order to help plan class events
such as parties, field trips, etc. This serves as a
quick and easy communication central for the parents
and teachers. Lastly, the message boards will allow
teachers to ask questions to faculty members or post
comments and receive feedback from the rest of the community.

Class
Notes
To allow teachers the option of displaying student work
and posting other information such as assignments and
upcoming events (parties, plays, etc.) for parents to
view.
This feature will allow parents to always know what
their children are doing at school. Not only will the
class notes provide a means in which the teacher can
post assignments for students, it also allows teachers
to publish student work such as stories, poems, artwork,
etc.

Mailing
List
The Mailing List gives teachers and administrators the
capability to easily send email announcements to all
parents, all faculty, or even just the parents of their
class.
This will open just one more method of communication
between the school and the parents of its attending
children.
This built in feature of the message boards will allow
administrators and teachers to access a form in which
they select which group will receive the newsletter
from any of the following:
-
All Parents (Including Non-Subscribers)
-
Parents Who Have Subscribed to the Mailing List
- Only
Faculty/Administrators
-
Only Teachers
-
…etc.
Once
a group has been selected, a message can be typed and
immediately sent by regular email to all of the people
belonging to that group. Since the message boards are
already used for handling the usernames and email addresses
of the parents and staff and since each user can select
their preference of whether or not to receive the mailing
list, no additional “master list” will need
to be developed and subsequently managed.
